Young Greens welcome UK backing for neonicotinoid ban

9 November 2017

The Young Greens have welcomed Michael Gove’s announcement that the UK will back a ban on bee-harming neonicotinoid pesticides across Europe.

The Young Greens have this year run a ‘save the bees’ campaign aiming to push for such a ban and encourage young people to get involved in practical environmental actions in their local area.

Co-chair Hannah Clare said:

"This is an important step in saving our declining bee population and I applaud all of the campaign groups who like us, have been working towards this ban.

The fight to save our bees isn't over, and will take the hard work and support of all of us to prevent their extinction, from planting bee friendly areas to raising awareness of their sheer importance in our ecosystem. Please join us in our campaign to ensure their protection."
