Young Greens react to May Bank Holiday floods

28 May 2018

The Young Greens express their sympathy to residents of areas such as Birmingham who have been affected by flooding this weekend.

Flash storms, which have seen transport disrupted and caused many homes, cars and personal belongings to be damaged, including many student homes, have happened throughout England and Wales [1]. Tragically, these floods have also caused a loss of life and we extend our greatest sympathy to the friends and family of the victim.

Hannah Graham, Young Greens Co Chair said:

“These floods are a clear sign of our ever changing climate. We need to take a serious look at our climate policies and ensure we are taking the drastic action we need on climate change.

As climate change continues to develop, flooding is becoming increasingly common in the United Kingdom and a Green government would work to protect residents as best as possible [2].”
