Young Greens respond to government's decision to approve Heathrow expansion

5 June 2018

Young Greens have today slammed a cabinet decision to build a third runway at Heathrow airport.

In a decision that goes against the wishes of many local and environmental campaigners, the cabinet have approved the third runway, costing the UK £14bn. It will go to a vote of Parliament by 11th July. [1]

Young Greens Co-Chair Ben Parker said:

"On World Environment Day, we should be focussing on acts that will have positive benefits for our environment, not those which will cause irreparable damage. The Government have once again shown they can't be trusted to protect our environment. We look forward to the day the Conservative Party learn that to solve climate change, ministers have to take more meaningful action than just using a reusable cup for their morning coffees."
