Role: Young Greens Convention Officer

Hours: Between 0-10 a week                                                                     Salary: Voluntary

Young Greens Convention Officer Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the organising of Young Greens Convention with the assistance of the Events Subcommittee, Young Greens Executive Committee and Young Greens Officer

  • Utilise and liaise with the local Young Greens group hosting Young Greens Convention

  • Assist with session & workshop planning, pulling together an interesting and varied timetable for attendees

  • Publicise the event increasing attendance on previous years by utilising internal mailings, external social media and other means

  • Work with the Equality and Diversity officer and liberation groups to meet accessibility requirements

  • Engage external organisations to run fringes and/or stalls at the event in line with Young Greens campaigns and other interests

  • Develop ideas to drive fundraising at the event with support from the Fundraising Subcommittee

  • Liaise with SPC to ensure the elections process and constitutional requirements of the event run smoothly

  • Ensure convention runs within budget by working closely with the Young Greens treasurer

General Committee Responsibilities

  • Attending fortnightly Executive Committee meetings (online) held on Sundays at 8pm

  • Attending Team Young Greens Residential (11-12th August) and convention (October/November, dates TBC)

  • Contributing to email and Slack (chat) discussions between the committee

  • Responding to emails from members

  • Providing a monthly report to the membership and attending the Quarterly Q&A

  • Contributing to Young Greens communications by providing content for things such as the mail out and social media

  • Assisting in facilitating the Young Greens Facebook Group, as well as taking responsibility for moderating social media posts, alongside other members of EC to ensure our messaging is inclusive

  • Adhering to the Code of Conduct agreed by the committee

  • Supporting other members of the committee with their portfolios where you can
